Laurie Saa

I’m Laurie Saa. I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, USA. I have a degree in Forensic Psychology and my TEFL certification. I spent over 10 years working in corporate, while tutoring the kids in my neighborhood after work and private tutoring for families as well. In 2019 I fully transitioned into dedicating my time to teaching and since then I’ve taught all ages from toddlers to adults. Having this opportunity to work with such varying age groups I found myself drawn to pre-k/ kindergarten because of their energy and fearlessness.

Growing up in a multilingual household we learned very young the importance of learning in a space where there was zero judgment when mistakes were made and we were always encouraged to keep trying even if it was not perfect. As children, my parents made learning their native tongue fun- through music, dance, and a lot of crafts. I find this the best way to learn and is how I have always engaged kids to learn with me. I feel that being able to speak more than one language helps one communicate and relate better to others while broadening one’s outlook.

During my spare time I enjoy reading, volunteering, scuba diving, and traveling.

I’ve only just started with BGC and I’m enjoying every moment of getting to know my students.
