Angol anyanyelvi lektorMy name is Isabella and I’m excited to be working as an English teacher with BGC Hungary. I am from Beaver, Pennsylvania and I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sustainability Studies from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
After studying abroad in Austria, Costa Rica, Denmark, Italy, and Ireland, I have gained a deep value for immersive cultural exchange opportunities and I am thankful to continue my connection to international education as an educator. During my college semester abroad, I was fortunate to take a short visit to Budapest, and I knew I wanted to return. Soon after, I earned my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification from the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE).
For seven years, I’ve worked as a childcare provider for various families with children aged three months to twelve years old. This experience taught me how to communicate clearly, remain flexible, and foster joyful, supportive environments where kids feel safe and grow. I’ve also held leadership roles with youth, adolescent, and young adult groups, gaining confidence in designing age-appropriate activities and offering multidimensional support to others.
I believe language teaching is a powerful tool for creating a more accessible and connected world which has been exemplified to me through my mother, a German and ESL teacher, and my first study abroad experience in Austria at age twelve which instilled in me a lasting appreciation for youth language instruction.
As a Sustainability Studies major, I bring a systems-thinking perspective and value interdisciplinary exchange. Beyond the sciences, I am passionate about the arts—I sing, dance, draw, collage, style clothing, and play guitar and trombone. My interdisciplinary skillset is something I am passionate about bringing to the classroom to support learners.
Guided by my alma mater’s motto, “with heart, mind, and hands,” I believe that education must take a holistic approach that upholds academic learning right alongside ethical and practical learning. Through community-oriented classrooms and immersive learning opportunities, we can uphold interdisciplinary approaches and honor students’ unique learning abilities to grow and shape curious and compassionate young learners.
